Hello:

Is the Latin text of the Malleus Maleficarum available over the
internet? I tried and failed to find it.

Incidently, I'm somewhat stunned by the price tag of
http://www.amazon.com/Malleus-Maleficarum-Set-Christopher-Mackay/dp/0521859778.
It's certainly not priced to be a best seller...

Thanks,

Mayer

The frontpage says "Daemonastix, seu adversus Daemones et Maleficos,
...". It seems
to be tome 3 of 3. Regards.

Worse still, I had failed to notice the "V.3" on the "About this book page".
(A bit like missing the big neon sign that says, "The Injuns went thataway"!!)

At the bottom of the page is written "cum privilegio regis".

What exactly did/does that mean?

There's an explanation in http://tinyurl.com/8y3b4d, though that seems to
pertain principally to books published in England.

I read through the whole thing a year or two ago and I can put the 1.2 meg text
file on my web space if you are not able to use the above links. I can use ftp
to upload it so I guess you could download it the same way but I am not very
familiar with the process.
I put it here:

http://www.box.net/shared/z35yl4rsle (html)
http://www.box.net/shared/z35yl4rsle (txt)

First time I use this box account. If it does not work, or if there is any
problem with the format of these files (saved in linx), write a pm and
I will fix it quickly.

I will leave it on box.net for a week.

7-day trial? Free webspace seems to have disappeared; along with many
ISPs' newsservers. I still have a bit so I've copied it to there;

It's here in graphic and text formats:

http://digital.library.cornell.edu/cgi/t/text/pageviewer-idx?c=witch&cc=witch&idno=wit060&node=wit060%3A4&frm=frameset&view=text&seq=1

but since it uses a pageviewer you may not be able to use this
reference. If not, navigate from here:

http://digital.library.cornell.edu/w/witch/browse_title_m.html

same way but I am not very familiar with the process. All I have been
able to do with html is to make a toy index file consisting of a few lines.

The MM starts like this:

Weird. Somebody must be turning off the news servers at night to save
money. I think I sent this two days ago and now it finally comes limping
home.
